‘Eat Bulaga’ producer Tony Tuviera ‘chose to be quiet’ amid controversy, Boy Abunda says

After Tito Sotto aired his side of the story on the controversy surrounding “Eat Bulaga,” Boy Abunda, who earlier had an interview with TAPE executive Bullet Jalosjos, clarified that the King of Talk reached out to show producer Tony Tuviera but he chose to keep mum on the issue.

During the “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” episode on Wednesday, April 26, Abunda talked about the statements made by Sotto which refuted Bullet’s claims on Tony’s retirement and on the show being financially stable.

“I would like the public to know na bago namin ma-interview si Mayor Bullet Jalosjos, ako’y tumawag [nang] personal kay Mr. Tony Tuviera, Mike Tuviera—na mga kaibigan ko, pamilya ko—and other people involved sa usaping ito,” the TV host said, referring to Tony and his son.

(I would like the public to know that before I interview Mayor Bullet Jalosjos, I personally called Mr. Tony Tuviera and Mike Tuviera, who are my friends and family, and other people involved in this issue.)

“They chose to be quiet at naiintindihan ko po at iginagalang ko po ‘yung kanilang pananahimik (and I understand and respect their decision to do so),” Abunda stressed.

Abunda reiterated that they informed both Tony and Mike of the interview before they pushed through with it, in an effort to be fair to everyone involved in the matter.

“But we did call, bumusina ho kami bago kami nag-interview because you know, ang pangarap naman talaga namin is to be able to present stories as fairly as we can, and we tried to do it,” he stated.

Abunda then expressed hope that both parties would settle their discord, noting how the public is “engaged in this conversation” because the noontime show has been part of their lives for 43 long years. EDV
