Last week it emerged that the presenters of This Morning were ‘barely speaking’ behind-the-scenes and that their friendship has ‘cooled.’
While Phil, 62, has insisted the pair are ‘the best of friends’ and called Holly, 41, his ‘rock’, she is yet to quash the rumours.
On Monday Eamonn, who previously presented the show on Fridays with his wife Ruth Langsford, decided to weigh in, and he did not hold back.
After dubbing the pair the ‘best actors’, he added there was also ‘no chemistry’ between them.
His comments unsurprisingly sparked a lot of interest, but one person made clear they weren’t impressed.
Posting a photo in an airport on Instagram that alluded to his recent ‘check-in’ with Fern Britton, one person commented to express their displeasure.
‘I am a huge fan of you Eamonn and will continue to be. I just wish you hadn’t jumped in on the Phil and Holly witch-hunt. Maybe I don’t know it all, but I hate to see you trading insults,’ the follower said.
However, he was quick to clap back, writing: ‘I think I have a lot more insight than you Lorraine.’
Several others then commented on the thread, with some writing ‘well said’, and another adding ‘definitely’.
During his commentary on the matter while presenting his GB News show on Monday, Eamonn said that This Morning ‘does not depend on who presents it’.
‘It’s an institution, it will carry on no matter who presents it and anyone can check the viewing figures, there’s no difference between whether they present it or anyone else,’ he added.
In the past Eamonn has been vocal about his issues with Phillip after Ruth allegedly made a complaint about his behaviour to ITV.
He previously told the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine: ‘Phillip is renowned for snubbing people. He’s very passive-aggressive. It’s up to Ruth to say how she felt, but I was feeling hurt for her. No one would have snubbed me like that.’
He added: ‘I have a good Belfast street fighter in me… I would be direct. I don’t go for presenters who think they have a special privilege or aura or influence.’
His comments came after Phillip cut Ruth off when she was completing a review of her show Loose Women during an episode of This Morning in 2019.
Previously presenting the show on Fridays from 2006 until 2021, Eamonn and Ruth were replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
