Eamonn Holmes claims just one of ‘uncomfortable’ Loose Women ‘liked Schofield’

Eamonn Holmes claims that only one member of the Loose Women cast “actually liked” Phillip Schofield amid his This Morning exit.

Phillip said in his announcement on Friday night that he is “deeply sorry” about his secret affair, with an employee adding: “That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over.”

In a damning tell-all interview on GB News, Holmes, whose wife Ruth Langsford still appears on Loose Women, addressed the scandal.

Kicking things off, presenter Dan Wootton claimed that team at the time felt “very uncomfortable” with the young employee joining Loose Women.

Wootton claimed: “A lot of the Loose Women that I spoke to felt very uncomfortable about the fact that this young colleague, who was having an affair with Phillip Schofield and was deeply troubled at this point, had been moved onto their show.

“Because it was almost like management was saying this ‘this guy is your problem now, we’re taking him away from This Morning and he’s your problem’.”

In a wild response, Eamonn said: “I think that should be asked why that unprecedented move was authorised, who authorised it and why?

“As for the Loose Women, in the year that you’re talking about, the panel that existed, I would say there was probably a minority of one that actually liked Phillip Schofield.”

Holmes added: “One Loose Women off ten or 12 or whatever.

“I am a good person, I don’t need people to critise me, I will give people love, tough love.

“I will give them an education in this business – but I’m not looking for anything in return.”

The interview comes after Schofield admitted cheating on his wife Stephanie Lowe with a “younger male colleague” at This Morning.

Schofield revealed the affair began while he was still with his wife in a statement published by the Daily Mail on Friday, adding he was “very, very sorry” for having been unfaithful to her.

“I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning,” he admitted. He added that “contrary to speculation” the relationship was “not illegal”.

Following his confession, a spokesperson for ITV said on Friday the broadcaster was “deeply disappointed” by the “admissions of deceit”.

“The relationships we have with those we work with are based on trust,” they added.

“Phillip made assurances to us which he now acknowledges were untrue and we feel badly let down.”
