Eamonn Holmes blasts people who ‘change’ due to fame amid Schofield feud
Eamonn Holmes, 63, has said people who “act differently’ amid fame make him “break out in a rash” as he praised TV presenter Rylan Clark for his “egoless” behaviour.
The GB News host has been embroiled in a long-running feud with his former This Morning co-star Phillip Schofield, 61, who Eamonn claimed created a “toxic” environment when they worked together.
Speaking on the Blethered podcast about what gets his backup working in television, Eamonn shared: “What brings me out in a rash practically is people who act different.
“Who have been somebody and then they change because they are famous,” he added.
However, Eamonn had nothing but kind words to say for another one of his former This Morning colleagues Rylan, who he called a “good lad”.
The TV legend shared: “[Rylan] is flamboyant and he would have very reason to have an ego, he’s a working-class lad who realises he’s very lucky to be doing what he’s doing.
“He hasn’t changed. Rylan is what you would call a personality. He’s not just famous for one thing.”
Phillip quit This Morning last month amid rumours of a feud with Holly Willoughby.
He later admitted to lying about an affair he had with a younger male employee who worked on the show.
During this time, Eamonn, who used to co-host the Friday episode of This Morning alongside his wife Ruth Langsford, has made several claims about his former colleague.
In a statement, Phillip confirmed that he has left This Morning with immediate effect, writing: “I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.”
Eamonn went on to claim that Phillip was “sacked” by ITV, saying: “Oh please, just stop this. He was sacked. All this nonsense of ‘I’ve decided to step down’. I’m sure you did – ‘here’s your P45 now step down’.”
After several claims from other TV stars of a “toxic” environment on This Morning while Phillip worked there, the latter defended himself and the show.
In an Instagram statement, hitting out at “people with grudges”. Phillip claimed it is “the same handful of people with a grudge against me or the show who seem to have the loudest voice,” adding: “This Morning is the best show to work on, with the best people. In all the years I worked there was no toxicity.”
Eamonn called Phillip’s post “delusional”, telling him: “If you are looking for a fight, you have picked the wrong person.”
A GB news interview with Eamonn then aired, in which he accused ITV of “covering up” Phillip’s relationship.
He said: “Those in authority had to know what was going on and they thought they would dodge a bullet with this.
“With Schofield talking about those who speak out against him– namely me, Amanda Holden, Dr Ranj [Singh] as well. You simply sit there and think ‘No mate, you’ve had it all your way for too long’.”
