Eamonn Holmes admits he’s ‘overwhelmed’ as he lays beloved mum to rest
Eamonn Holmes, 62, has been inundated with support following the death of his mum, Josephine Holmes. Josephine tragically passed away in her Belfast home on Friday at the age of 93. Eamonn took to Twitter and Instagram this morning, sharing his thanks to those who have reached out to him in his time of grief.
He said: “I am genuinely humbled and overwhelmed. [You] have been a great comfort. We lay her to rest this morning.”
In a pinned Twitter post, Eamonn heartbreakingly wrote over the weekend: “At 93 Age hardly withered her.
“My Dear Mother Jospehine who has left us to go to Heaven, Requiescat in Pace.
“Thank you to all of you who paid tributes and your Respects.

“Now sadly it really is Goodbye Mummy x.” (sic)
Eamonn’s father, Leonard Holmes, died in 1994 at the age of 64 when he had a heart attack while driving, as reported by Daily Mail.
Eamonn has received support from his fellow broadcasters like Dermot O’Leary, Susanna Reid and James Jordan.
His breakfast show co-host Isabel Webster has been an unwavering pillar of support, commenting on Eamonn’s original post: “Words fail me. Huge condolences E. Call me anytime, night or day xxx.”

On Tuesday she shared the photo Eamonn had posted noting: “Sending huge love to Eamonn Holmes and all his family as they bid farewell to his beloved mother, Mrs Josie Holmes, today.”
In his 2006 autobiography, This Is My Life, the presenter explained that his showbiz success was all thanks to his mum.
Josephine had named Eamonn after the famed Eamonn Andrews, who the This Morning host described as “Ireland’s best-known export to Britain and [its] most successful broadcaster.”
Eamonn revealed his mum had “adored” Andrews and hoped that by naming her son after him “I’d grow up to be like him”.
