Dungeons & Dragons star singles out Hugh Grant as cast ‘troublemaker’
In an ensemble cast with the likes of Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Regé-Jean Page, it’s no surprise that the behind-the-scenes of Dungeons & Dragons looked quite similar to the on-screen antics as the plot goes awry.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Sophia Lillis, 21, and Justice Smith, 27, opened up about their off-camera shenanigans.
Speaking at the London premiere of the new film, Justice Smith, 27, was quick to declare who they thought the cast troublemaker was: “That was Sophia!”
However, later that evening, Sophia Lillis, 21, had a different recollection, saying it was “sometimes Justice”, cheekily adding: “Maybe it’s both of us.”
The actress also had one other costar in mind for the title, although had not quite confirmed it: “I would assume Hugh.”

Referring to her colleague, esteemed Hollywood veteran Hugh Grant, the IT star added: “I never did a scene with Hugh so that’s probably not right.”
At 21, Sophia is not just one of the youngest actors in the star-studded Dungeons & Dragons cast, but also the only lead who is a veteran of the game.
With all of the other cast members needing some introduction to the fantasy world of roleplaying games, directors John Francis Daily and Jonathan Goldstein arranged a campaign for their merry crew of misfits, led by a game master from Wizards of the Coast.
Justice recalled the unusual icebreaker saying: “That was really fun, we all bonded and got to see what the vibe of the game was.”
However, he jokingly noted that the D&D veteran was on her own mission: “Sofia was in like a completely different room while we were all fighting the big bad.”
The actors also revealed to Express.co.uk that much of what audiences see on-screen was practical effects rather than CGI, as Sophia marvelled over the “amazing” puppetry techniques while Justice fawned over his favourite prop.
The Sharper star gushed: “My hither-thither staff was really cool. It was wired up through my sleeve so it actually glows on set!
“What you see in the movie is actually happening, I actually twisted it, it actually lit up. It didn’t actually shoot portals but close enough.”
Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves is currently in cinemas.
