Driving instructor reveals exact moment learner fails their test
A DRIVING instructor has shared the moment a learner driver failed their driving test with one small mistake.
A video of the dash cam footage showing the fail was posted on Tiktok by user TheYoungInstructor.
The learner driver can be seen driving along a dual carriage way with TheYoungInstructor, who was not the examiner for this test, giving a voiceover on what the student has been tasked with.
He said: “On this dual carriageway, the student was asked to follow signs to the hospital.
“And as you can see on the top of your screen, he need to get in the left lane.
“He changes lanes well and notices that there’s some joining traffic.”
All seems to be going well for the learner driver but what happens next proves to be where everything goes horribly wrong.
He said: “In this situation, all he needed to do was let go of the gas a little bit but he decides to try and change lanes and the examiner has to yank the steering wheel to keep him on the left side.”
The examiner had to intervene as the student driver forgot to do one very important thing.
He said: “The examiner had to do this because the student failed to check their mirrors before changing lane and as you can see, this lorry was in the process of overtaking.
He points out the lorry in the video, which is going faster than the learner driver in the right hand lane.
TheYoungInstructor goes on to say: “If the examiner wasn’t there in this situation, the lorry would have most probably gone straight into the back of them, causing a very serious crash.”
Some of the commenters on the post don’t believe the learner should have tried to change lanes.
One said: Shouldn’t the car on the slip road adjust speed, and it’s a junction and he should be giving way.”
A common reason why learner drivers fail their driving test is lack of observation, especially at a junction.
This can be the learner approaching a junction too quickly or fails to give due care to the other drivers on the road.
