Japanese Super GT driver Mitsunori Takaboshi has miraculously escaped without a single fracture after a frightening high-speed crash with a barrier saw his car left in tatters.
Takaboshi was competing for Nissan in the Super GT 450km race at the Fuji Speedway when he lost control while attempting to overtake the race leader Yuhi Sekiguchi on the straight.
The Japanese driver’s car spun multiple times following the impact with the barrier before coming to a rest next to the pit wall.

Thankfully the 29-year-old was able to extricate himself from his car before being taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary health checks. GT Association chairman Masaaki Bandoh confirmed to host broadcaster J Sports that Takaboshi had avoided any fractures and was in good condition following the crash.
“Oh my goodness. That makes you feel so sick to the stomach,” the commentator on J Sports’ coverage said after the horrific crash.
“That’s full-throttle Takaboshi’s gone in and all thoughts of them losing the race are just completely immaterial.
“That is the mother of all accidents that you’re ever going to have down the main straight at Fuji Speedway.”
The race was red-flagged after Takaboshi’s accident, the second red flag of the scheduled 100-lap race after an accident involving Hisashi Wada. Like Takaboshi, Wada was able to walk away under his own power.
