Drivers divided over neighbour’s sneaky trick to reserve parking space
DRIVERS are divided over a neighbour’s sneaky trick to reserve a parking space when they’re not home.
A photo shared on chat forum Reddit by a perplexed resident claims a bloke on his street uses a broken moped to save his space.
The picture, taken at night, also shows the scooter with two large spaces between other parked cars on the road.
Accompanying the photo, the neighbour who shared the image said: “My neighbour bought a broken moped to hold his parking spot when he’s not home.”
It is unclear where the incident took place.
But the parking loophole sparked fierce debate as to whether the trick was an acceptable thing to do or not, The Mirror reported.
One person chimed: “If where you live is anything like mine, that’ll be in the back of a van in very short order.”
While another added: “You have to go out there and face it in the opposite direction just to mess with his mind.”
A different user wrote: “I’d find something to put next to it, so when he moves his bike, there isn’t room for their car.
“Yes, I am that petty.”
While another person got technical, questioning the legality of having a broken vehicle on the road.
They claimed: “Needs tax, mot AND insurance to be on a public highway I think, if it’s declared SORN it shouldn’t be on the road at all.”
While one user went as far as to share a anecdote about how they used to deal with problem space-hoggers.
They wrote: “When a Mini was smaller than a Land Rover, there was a lass who parked hers blocking the drive round the back of the shop each morning.
“It became routine for four of us to pick it up and carry it out onto the street so she could get her ticket for abandoning the bloody thing.”
