Drivers blown away by proper use for button in your car – you need to know it

A DRIVER has taken to social media to explain to other motorists what a common button does and why it’s important.

The video, uploaded by TikTok user @joeyandcars, has been viewed more than two million times.

Sat in his Mercedes, the TikTok user starts by saying: “Let’s press the SOS button in my car and see what it does.”

The shot then flicks to a button up by his car’s rearview mirror, which after being pressed, flips down to reveal a red one underneath.

@joeyandcars continues: “So apparently if you press this button it goes to a 24/7, 365 call centre that Mercedes pays for that helps you in situations.

“I’ve always wanted to see what it does, so let’s do it.”

After pressing the button a call tone can be heard and a woman answers at the call centre.

She asks how she can help and the TikTok user says he pressed the button by accident.

The vast majority of cars built from roughly April 2018 onwards have an SOS button inside.

They’re usually red with ‘SOS’ on and located up near your rearview mirror, but can be in other places too.

Drivers are AMAZED by the correct use of common button in their car
There's a little known button that will SAVE fuel and make you more comfortable

Pressing it will connect you to a free call centre that is operated 24/7 and the car’s built-in GPS will let the operator know exactly where you are.

In the event of an accident, if serious enough, the car will automatically make the SOS call for you.

If you don’t respond after a certain amount of certain, the operator will assume you are hurt and dispatch emergency services.
