Driver speeding down dark country road at 50mph almost hits something unexpected

This is the shocking moment a driver driving down a dark country lane at 50mph nearly ploughs into something unexpected.

The video was uploaded to TikTok by @crazyanimallady and has hit more than 650,000 views.

The video was filmed with a car dashcam in Lancashire and shows a mobility scooter driver wearing black clothes nearly being hit by the car’s driver.

Unbelievably, the mobility scooter rider was not using any lights and wasn’t wearing a reflective jacket.

Fortunately, the car managed to stop before hitting the man on the mobility scooter.

Thanks to the quick action of the car driver, nobody was hurt but the driver was left in complete shock at the scooter rider’s actions.

According to the Highway Code, mobility scooter riders must follow the same rules about using lights, indicators and horns as other road vehicles if your vehicle is fitted with them.

At night, lights must be used and you must be aware that other road users may not see you.

You should make yourself more visible by wearing a reflective jacket or reflective strips on the back of the scooter.

Surprisingly, a few TikTok users revealed that they have been in the same situation.

One man commented: “I had a guy on a mobility scooter coming round a blind bend towards me once. It was very dark.”

Others are outraged by what they saw on the video.

One user commented: “What is the guy in the wheelchair doing out on that road.”

Another: “My God, some people have no brain.

“I can’t believe he did not realise how many lives he put in danger.”
