Driver speeding at 85mph in a 40 zone in heavy rain brought to a tactical stop

A motorist who was driving at 85mph in a 40 zone in the pouring rain in Greater Manchester was tailed by an unmarked police car and brought to a tactical stop.

The police surveillance vehicle followed the speeding motorist and aided by another patrol car safely boxed in the motorist bringing the vehicle to a standstill.

Greater Manchester Police say the motorist had no excuse for such reckless driving and has been reported.

GMP tweeted: “The driver of this vehicle found out the hard way that you don’t travel at 85mph in a 40mph zone, in the pouring down rain… with an unmarked Police vehicle behind you! Vehicle boxed by #XT14 & #XT24 to prevent a pursuit.

“Driver had no excuse for his speed & was reported #fatal4”

In a separate incident Motorway Police in Greater Manchester have thanked a responsible motorist who alerted them to a vehicle being driven ‘disgustingly’ at just 37mph on the M62.

Police intercepted the erratic driver who was weaving in and out of lanes and arrested them after she failed to provide a breath test.

North West Motorway Police tweeted: “Thanks to the call from a very concerned motorist (you know who you are !!) who described some driving as ‘disgusting’ along the M62 at 37 mph and drifting across all lanes – a female was stopped and has been arrested for failing to provide a Breath Test”
