Driver gets stuck trying to swerve barrier to skip £496 Stansted parking bill
AN IDIOT driver got stuck trying to swerve a barrier to dodge a £496 parking bill at Stansted Airport before cops seized his car.
The mindless motorist decided to try and drive around the barriers after being flummoxed by the pricey fee.
The man was left redfaced when his vehicle got stuck on a kerb as he tried to flee his hefty bill of almost £500.
Essex Police were called to the airport parking area after the man attempted to dodge the barriers and escape.
When cops arrived, they then discovered the daft driver was also disqualified and shouldn’t have been behind the wheel.
The man’s day went from bad to worse when he was informed his motor would be seized and he still had to fork out for his parking charge.
He is thought to have left his car in a bay at the short stay car park for a total of eight days, EssexLive reported.
Drivers are charged £62 per 24 hours if they fail to book in advance.
Sharing a snap of the blunder on Twitter, Essex Police at Stansted Airport wrote: “Please remember to pay for your parking @ Stansted Airport.
“This driver tried to avoid paying, got stuck when driving around the barrier and to top off his bad day…. he was a disqualified driver.
“His car was seized by Essex Police and he still owes £496 in car parking fees!”
We previously told how another Brit was blasted for parking on a motorway hard shoulder to avoid paying a £6 airport pick-up fee.
The barmy bloke pulled over his Citroen C4 Cactus just outside of Manchester Airport and was “waiting to collect people”.
Drivers are only allowed to stop on a hard shoulder in an emergency or if being told to by police.
Pulling over for any other reason could see you slapped with a £100 fine and three penalty points.
To avoid being hit with a mammoth bill after your break, we told how you could save some cash with a bit of planning.
Motorists could be spending as much as 500% more for airport parking as they don’t book in advance.
