Drew McIntyre has blacked out his Twitter profile and removed references to WWE from his bio.

The Scottish Warrior hasn’t been featured on SmackDown since he and Sheamus lost to GUNTHER in a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39 on April 2.

Following the intense and physical match, Drew tweeted three waving emojis, leading fans to speculate what the future holds.

Now, he’s prompted more discussions after blacking out his Twitter profile, which now has no profile picture or banner, while the bio has also been removed.

It should be noted his name is still Drew McIntyre – rather than his real surname Galloway, which he has used outside of WWE – and his handle is @DMcIntyreWWE, but it’s still a very interesting move.

Not surprisingly, fans are going wild on Twitter wondering what it all means, with some people convinced Drew is leaving WWE.

‘Welp he gone,’ tweeted one fan, with another adding: ‘Aww yeah man’s gone.’

Others speculated he could be making a move towards rival promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW), as a third person said: ‘He’s either a free agent or about to be. This was why WWE pulled him from TV. AEW is gonna throw some major money his way especially with the Wembley stadium event.’

There are also plenty of people remaining hopeful he’s staying in WWE, as someone wrote: ‘Hoping this is a storyline because if it’s not then this is a big loss for WWE.’

A different viewer thinks a character change is on the way, tweeting: ‘He’s gonna return as a heel after backlash, just watch,’ and another bluntly said: ‘He’s not leaving’.

The timing is interesting, given recent reports Drew and WWE are some way apart when it comes to negotiations on a new contract regarding money and creative issues, with the former world champion moved down the card following his heartbreaking loss to Roman Reigns in the main event of Clash At The Castle.

However, there is no official word on when his contract is due to expire, and the company is known to use real life issues on screen, which is likely what’s happening here.

WWE Raw (Mondays) and SmackDown (Fridays) air at 1am on BT Sport 1.
