Drake tests positive for COVID-19 on Monday, postpones ‘Young Money Reunion’ concert

Drake is postponing a show scheduled for Monday night after the rapper said he tested positive for COVID-19.

Drake said he was “truly devastated” to test positive for COVID-19 on an Instagram story posted just before 10:30 a.m. Drake was set to perform at the Budweiser Stage, closing out the rapper’s very own music festival OVO Fest.

“I am so sorry for letting you down on our weekend together,” Drake said in the post.

OVO Fest’s “October World Weekend” featured the Canadian artist in a series of concerts that started on Thursday at the HISTORY stage near Woodbine Park. On Friday, Drake’s long-weekend music exhibition moved to the Budweiser Stage at Ontario Place.

Monday was scheduled to end the weekend-long event with the “Young Money Reunion” show, featuring Drake, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj.

The concert will be rescheduled to the soonest possible date, according to Drake.

“The moment I test negative I will give you everything I got on stage,” Drake said in his post.

“Except the COVID.”

Drake’s postponement is the latest in a series of cancellations standing between Toronto residents and summer of live music.

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber cancelled a series of shows in Toronto due to illness in June. Toronto-born artist The Weeknd postponed a stop in his hometown during a world tour, due the Rogers outage in early July. Later in the month, Shawn Mendes and New Kids on the Block also cancelled shows at the Scotiabank Arena.

Meanwhile, Toronto police are still looking for the suspect who set off fireworks at Dua Lipa’s concert in the Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday.
