Drake ‘broken’ after concert deaths

Drake, who was a surprise guest at Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert that saw eight people killed, has broken his silence on the tragedy.

Drake has issued his first public remarks on the “devastating tragedy” at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival, where he made a surprise appearance before a stampede of concertgoers led to the deaths of eight people.

“I’ve spent the past few days trying to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy,” Drake wrote in a post to Instagram, the New York Post reported.

“My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering,” he added.

“I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in any way I can.”

Drake joined Scott on stage before the show at Houston’s NRG Park was shut down after the deadly crush of fans on Friday night.

Eight people were killed and more than 300 injured in what authorities have called a trampling accident during the first night of the two-day festival.

Scott, 30, is facing widespread criticism for the deaths and has been accused of continuing his set, even as unconscious bodies were pulled from the crowd.

A number of lawsuits have already been filed by concertgoers, including one against both Drake and Scott.

Texas lawyer Thomas Henry filed a $1 million-plus lawsuit on behalf of Kristian Paredes, 23, from Austin, who he says was left severely injured after Friday night’s concert.

Ms Paredes alleges in the lawsuit that the rappers “put profits over their attendees and allowed the deadly show to go on” and “incited the crow

Among those injured in the stampede was a nine-year-old boy who is now clinging to life in coma after suffering injuries to his organs.

“He’s a small innocent child — he didn’t deserve that, he didn’t deserve that at all,” the boy’s grandfather told a local television station.
