Drake becomes latest victim of on-stage attack as he is hit by cell phone
Drake was hit by a cell phone while performing, making him the latest victim of on-stage attack following a string of incidents involving other musicians.
The 36-year-old kicked off his It’s A Blur tour in Chicago this week but while he was performing a cover of Ginuwine’s So Anxious, a phone hit him on the wrist and fell to the ground.
Thankfully, the Hotline Bling singer wasn’t injured and didn’t stop singing, carrying on with the first concert of his four-month long tour.
The rapper hasn’t toured since 2018 with the Aubrey & The Three Migos tour and has since released four more albums.
He is far from the only star to fall victim to bad behavior from his audience either as these attacks have grown more common, sadly.
Earlier this year, Bebe Rexha, 33, was hit in the face with a cell phone that was thrown at her and suffered a black eye which required three stitches.
The concert-goer responsible was Nicolas Malvagna, 27, was charged with assault.
Bebe has returned to performing live but now wears protective goggles while on stage.
Last week, Kelsea Ballerini, 29, was hit in the face while on stage with a bracelet and afterwards took to Instagram to share that she was alright.
She added that it hit her in the eye but it didn’t hurt it “more so scared me”.
It was even more terrifying for singer Ava Max, 29, when a stage crasher jumped up during a performance in Los Angeles and slapped her across the face.
She tweeted afterwards: “He slapped me so hard that he scratched the inside of my eye. He’s never coming to a show again. Thank you to the fans for being spectacular tonight in LA though!!”
In November, Harry Styles was in the middle of a concert, blowing kisses to fans, when his head suddenly went back and he clutched his eye as someone had thrown a Skittle at him.
Adele, 35, addressed the rising issue with audience members acting out during one of her own concerts.
She told a crowd at her Las Vegas residency Weekends with Adele: “Have you noticed how people are like, forgetting f***ing show etiquette at the moment?
“People just throwing s**t on stage, have you seen them?
Adele then joked: “’I f*****g dare you. Dare you to throw something at me and I’ll f*****g kill you.”
