Dragons cry foul over ‘questionable’ sin-bin

St George Illawarra enforcer Jaydn Su’A found himself in the sin bin for the second week in a row following a tackle against Cronulla.

The Dragons recruit was marched last week for a hit on Penrith halfback Sean O’Sullivan.

In Wollongong on Thursday night, the game was only 16 minutes old when Su’A braced himself for contact against Sharks star Dale Finucane.

Finucane slipped and his head made contact with the tackler’s chest or shoulder. The Sharks player lay on the ground injured and play was stopped.

Referee Gerard Sutton called Su’A over.

“This can’t be a sin-bin can it?” Nine commentator Mat Thompson queried.

Brad Fittler pointed out, “Su’A was fairly hard done by last week against the Panthers”.

Sutton, though, place the Dragons player on report and sent him to the bin for 10 minutes.

Fittler found it hard to believe the tackle warranted Su’A being marched from the field.

“I’d like to see that again,” he said.

“I thought he was hard done by last week for the tackle on Sean O’Sullivan. He wasn’t that late on that tackle.”

The Dragons’ social media team clearly felt the same way, tweeting twice about the sin-binning.

The Sharks scored twice while Su’A was off the field.

“Man oh man, Su’A questionably sin-binned again,” the club tweet read, with a face-palm emoji.
