Dolphins star claims ‘great piece of history’

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow has secured himself a piece of history by becoming the Dolphins first ever try scorer.

In the 15th minute of the NRL newbies’ first match, Jeremy Marshall-King made a line break from dummy-half, before the lightning-quick fullback loomed up on his inside.

Marshall-King got the pass away, and The Hammer streaked away to score.

“Put his name in the history books. Dolphins first try scorer in the NRL,” commentator Peter Psaltis said for Nine.

Queensland great Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin said it was a classic fullback try.

“Probably one of their best buys … all the great fullbacks, that is what they do, they chase up the middle. Well done son.”

The Dolphins enjoyed a strong opening half of NRL footy. The Roosters were first to score through Joseph Suaalii, before Tabuai-Fidow opened the Dolphins account.

Drew Hutchison put the Roosters back in front, before Mark Nicholls evened it up in the shadows of half time.
