Singer Macy Gray has spoken out about transgender issues and saying “changing your parts doesn’t make you a woman”.
Singer Macy Gray has weighed in on trans issues, saying being a woman requires being born with “boobs” and a “vagina”.
During the latest episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, available to stream on Flash, the Grammy-winner was asked about the definition of a woman.
The 54-year-old described a woman as a “human being with boobs.”
“How about you start there? And a vagina,” she told the Sky News host.

The TV presenter pointed out how it was rare for celebrities to discuss their views on transgender people publicly.
The musician clarified that she backs transgender rights — but drew the line at athletic competitions.
“As a woman, just because you go and change your parts doesn’t make you a woman, sorry,” she said.
“If you want me to call you a ‘her’, I will.
“Because that’s what you want but that doesn’t make you a woman just because I call you a ‘her’ and just because you got a surgery.”
Gray also commented on Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who has caused controversy with her views on transgender people.
“I don’t think you should be called transphobic just because you don’t agree…,” she said.
“There is a lot of judgment and throwing stones at people for just saying what it is. Do you know what I mean?”
Being female, Gray said, required more than medical procedures.
“A woman goes through a completely unique experience and surgery and finding oneself doesn’t change that,” she said.
“Being a little girl is a whole epic book, you know? You can’t have that just because you want to be a woman.”
