Disneyland’s swanky new lounge to escape the crowds – but not everyone can visit

DISNEYLAND has revealed a swanky new lounge opening at the theme park – but not just anyone can enter it.

Guests will have to be Magic Key holders to be allowed access to the exclusive area.

The Magic Key Terrace at Disneyland California is currently undergoing renovations, with plans to open by spring.

Once open, the lounge will have fancy seating areas and interiors, with beautiful stained glass windows and wall art.

Standard guests won’t be able to enter the park – similar to the exclusive Club 33 and 1901 lounge.

Walt Disney Imagineer Kim Irvine told Orange Country Register: “When we started our Magic Key program, the park decided that it would be a really great thing to have a location for them that they could call their own, kind of like Club 33 has their own location.

“Now the Magic Key members have the same thing which is really wonderful.”

She added: “You’ve got Avengers Campus just to the left and Pixar Pier right across the way. Those are all really high-energy places.

“Magic Key Terrace is really a change of energy and a change of mood. A chance to slow down, relax with a little food and drink, and think about what to do next.”

Magic Key’s replaced the long-loved annual passholders, and cost between $400 to $1,400.

The extra perks include money off dining and shopping, as well as allowing theme park reservations up to 90 days in advance.

Disney already has a number of exclusive areas which normal guests can’t access.

Club 33 is one of the few locations where you can enjoy alcohol and previously welcomed A-list guests including Elton John, Elizabeth Taylor, Tom Hanks and Christina Aguilera.

The speakeasy-style lounge, located in New Orleans doesn’t come cheap – as you have to fork out at least £20,000 – and it’s nearly impossible to get in.

The invite-only club has a waiting list of 14 years, according to Insider and membership fees depend on the level you join at.

Club 33 Executive and Platinum members also get access to the 1901 Lounge, which offers cocktails and fine dining.

Disney World also has a secret suite in Cinderella’s Castle – but it is only open for special occasions or exclusive guests like Tom Cruise and Mariah Carey or families lucky enough to win a night in the castle.
