The first trailer for Disenchanted has finally arrived but fans may have been a bit distracted by Patrick Dempsey’s new hairdo to fully absorb it.

The Disney romantic comedy arrives 15 years after its predecessor, Enchanted, which saw an exiled princess Giselle (Amy Adams) grapple with life in New York City after being booted out of her animated world.

As she acclimatises to the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple, and deals with dark and corrupt sorceress Narissa (Susan Sarandon), she falls in love with cynical divorce lawyer Robert (Patrick) and realises where her truly belongs.

According to the trailer, Disenchanted picks up from where the 2007 film ends as it sees Giselle settled down and married to Robert in the middle of swapping busy city life for a home in the country.

‘Change is very scary,’ she tells a selection of birds that have gathered on her New York balcony. ‘But it can be exciting. Let’s start out new life.’

The trailer teases that the move has its challenges, with the couple purchasing a ‘fixer-upper’ home in Monroeville as they tend to their new baby.

However, it soon becomes clear that the picture-perfect family life isn’t what Giselle had expected, with her announcing: ‘I wished for a fairytale life but it’s all gone terribly wrong.’

The end of the two-minute-long trailer sees Giselle appear to give up life in the real world and return to the magical kingdom of Andalasia.

But it’s clear trouble follows Giselle wherever she goes as viewers look on as she pushes Morgan Philip (Gabriella Baldacchino) down a well.

Meanwhile, Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph) rages: ‘Giselle, what have you done?’

While of course excitement is brewing for the long-awaited sequel, fans have also been delighted over Patrick’s platinum blond locks.

The 56-year-old attended the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, on Friday, where he debuted his new look while picking up the prestigious Disney Legend award.

Sharing a pic of the event on his Instagram, fans picked up on his stylish barnet, with one writing: ‘Living for the blonde look you served.’

Another penned: ‘Once you go white… you never go back.’

‘You’re rocking the hair,’ a social media user admired.

The new ‘do, however, won’t be making an appearance in Disenchanted, with Patrick rocking his natural locks in the movie, and is instead for a different role.

‘I’m doing a film right now in Italy about Ferrari that Michael Mann is directing. I’m having a great time. I’m getting to drive a lot of fast cars. I play a race car driver called Piero Taruffi who wins the 1957 Mille Miglia. It’s a dream job,’ he told Deadline.

The upcoming flick, titled Ferrari, also stars Adam Driver, Shailene Woodley and Penélope Cruz.

Disenchanted will be available to stream on Disney Plus from November 24
