We never thought we’d see the day Strictly Come Dancing viewers were sad not to have Mr Nasty Craig Revel Horwood on the panel, but he was sorely missed this week.

The judge was absent from tonight’s show after testing positive for Covid, with star of stage and screen Cynthia Erivo temporarily keeping his seat warm.

A spokesperson for the show said in a statement that the judge was following the latest guidelines by isolating, and he hopes to return next week if he tests negative by that point.

‘Craig Revel Horwood has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now self-isolating following the latest government guidelines,’ they said.

‘While Craig will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend, all being well he will return the following week.’

On Monday’s It Takes two, presenter Rylan Clark sent love to Craig, saying they ‘can’t wait’ to see him ‘really soon.’

Naturally, viewers took to Twitter to express their disappointment that Craig wasn’t at the judges’ table this weekend, and they even missed his harsh comments.

‘Really missing Craig and his slightly snarky but always relevant comments,’ one wrote.

Another tweeted: ‘Not the same without Craig, hope he gets better soon.’

‘Without Craig everyone is going to get big scores,’ tweeted one fan.

However, there was a whole lot of love for his replacement, as fans praised Emmy winner ‘queen’ Cynthia for filling his shoes.

Viewers said they ‘love’ her critiques and they’re even calling for her to ‘stay forever.’

‘How do we get Cynthia to be a permanent judge?’ one asked with another simply saying, ‘I want Cynthia Erivo to rule my life.’

‘I love Cynthia’s notes. She’s stepped so easily into this judging role and seems perfectly comfortable,’ a viewer also praised.

Craig is the third person to miss a week this series after testing positive for the virus, after comedian Judi Love and McFly singer Tom.

The Strictly Come Dancing results show airs tomorrow at 7.15pm on BBC One.
