A video of Pakistan Prime Minister Sharif taking an umbrella from a woman official who was escorting him has gone viral. It is because he walked away leaving the said woman to drench in the rain.

In the clip, a female protocol officer stood with an umbrella, awaiting the arrival of the Pakistani Prime Minister. As Sharif stepped out of the car, they start walking towards the venue.
The Pakistani leader engaged in a brief exchange before accepting the umbrella from the protocol officer. He proceeded ahead, shielded by the umbrella, while the officer followed him in the rain.

Although a section of netizens have claimed that he snatched the umbrella from her, the visuals clearly indicate that he politely took it from her.
It looks like this was a chivalrous act which went wrong.

The incident occurred when Shehbaz Sharif arrived at Palais Brogniart in France to attend the two-day New Global Financing Pact Summit in Paris.
“PM of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif insisted on holding the umbrella himself when a protocol officer received him at a summit hosted by the French president on Thursday. But his “good gesture” left the woman officer walking in the rain,” a user on Twitter said.
However, many used the opportunity to troll him. “He is planning to take home the umbrella, sell it and uplift the Pak economy,” the second user said.

A netizen said, “Too embarrassed to share an umbrella in pouring rain? Was he thinking of legendary song “Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua Hai”?

Another netizen added, “While our PM stands in the rain without an umbrella for 3 mins for both India.
