They added: “Ronan is just absolutely devastated. He lives for his family. This is a cruel bolt from the blue.”

Ciaran’s wife Ann Marie was taken to Mayo University Hospital to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
While a male driver of the second vehicle is understood to be receiving treatment for serious injuries in hospital.
A male passenger in the second vehicle has also been hospitalised.
Ciaran is survived by one sister Linda, two brothers Gerard and Gary as well as his own family and young brother Ronan.
Ronan’s brother also set up the Marie Keating Foundation, after the death of their mother from breast cancer in 1998.
The foundation paid tribute to him and said: “Ciaran was such a great supporter of our work and often acted as relief driver of our Mobile Information Unit in the West when time allowed. He joined us recently to celebrate 25 years of the foundation at our annual celebrity golf classic.”
Cork City FC issued a statement, which read: “All at Cork City FC are deeply saddened at the passing of Ciaran Keating, father of our player Ruairí Keating. We extend our deepest sympathies to Ruairí and the entire Keating family at this exceptionally difficult time.
“May he rest in peace. We ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be confirmed in due course.”
