Demon’s Souls Remake Forced FromSoftware to Improve Visual Quality of Elden Ring, As per Miyazaki
Hidetaka Miyazaki says his Graphics team felt extra pressure in the Elden Ring project after the launch of Demon’s Souls Remake on PS5.
Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware have always been known for their hardcore and unforgiving action games, but when it comes to graphics and visuals, the studio has never been among the top-tier developers of the globe.

In a recent interview with Edge magazine, Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed that graphics has never been a priority for him and his team in developing games, but with the Elden Ring project, they were actually forced to care more about visuals.
Elden Ring has been the biggest project of FromSoftware so far, and obviously, one of the most anticipated games of 2022.
Visually, Elden Ring looks pretty impressive in gameplay trailers and much better than FormSoftware’s previous titles in the case of visuals, but there is a specific reason behind this great-looking world!
In his interview with Edge, Miyazaki explained how Demon’s Souls Remake forced them to put more effort into the graphics improvement of Elden Ring. When asked if the graphical fidelity of Demon’s Souls Remake affected FromSoftware’s upcoming project, Miyazaki answered:
Yes, I’m pretty sure our graphics-creation staff felt that pressure more than anyone else.
And not just with Elden Ring, but with all the games we make. Graphical fidelity is not something we put as the top priority. What we ask for on the graphics side depends on the systems and requirements of the game itself, and it takes less priority compared to the other elements of development.
So this is always an area where I feel a little bit apologetic towards my graphics team because I know they work extremely hard. And they’ve worked extremely hard on Elden Ring – our graphics-systems team and our programmers have been pushing a lot of new features to create the best-looking games we’ve ever made.

Elden Ring will be available on February 25 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
