Delighted Kate looks ‘wonderfully unvain’ with rescue dogs

Kate, Princess of Wales had a “smile of delight” as she and Prince William had fun meeting rescue dogs.

The Prince and Princess of Wales travelled to their namesake country, Wales, on Thursday to meet with the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team, who risk their lives to help local hikers who have become stuck or lost.

The royal couple were happy to take part in training exercises with the rescue team, which included being shown how to abseil down mountain Bannau Brycheiniog.

However, Kate’s eyes appeared to light up during a dog rescue demonstration and she was happy to crouch down on the ground to give the dogs a well-deserved chin scratch.

An expert who watched the moment has said Kate’s body language “screamed besotted” as soon as she clapped eyes on the rescue dogs.

Judi James, a leading body language and communication expert, has said the cute moment showed that both Kate and William have a strong love of animals.

She told Express.co.uk: “William is the first to pet them but Kate’s impatience is clear from the way she is already grinning down at the dogs and rushing to pull her cap on properly so she can bend to have her turn.”

Ms James said Kate looked “so wonderfully unvain” in the moment as the Princess was “stuffing her hair into her cap and pulling her ponytail out through the gap at the back as quickly as possible, focusing more on the dogs than worrying about her own styling.”

Once William was finished petting the dogs, Judi said Kate was quick to get her own turn with the dogs

She said: “[Kate] bends quickly with a smile of delight, crouching lower to give the dog full attention once the petting has begun.”

While watching the video, Judi said there was “still an air of teamwork” between both William and Kate as the royal stands up and begins to focus on the conversation between William and other members of the rescue team.

However, the Princess is quickly drawn back to the canines.

Ms James said: “[Kate] dives back down again as soon as possible, this time greeting the dog like an old friend, with an open-mouth, dimpled smile of greeting.

“Any dog-lover will recognise the lovely face-strokes and chin-scratches from Kate here define her as a dog-lover herself.”

William and Kate’s public delight at the dogs is different from other members of the Royal family.

Ms James added: “Royals have traditionally tended to pat animals more warily on public outings but Kate is clearly keen to show a strong love of animals here.”
