Delhi School Closed: Delhi schools move to online classes as AQI crosses 450-mark, formal announcement soon | – Times of India

NEW DELHI: In view of the deteriorating air quality in Delhi NCR, some schools have shifted to online classes as a precautionary measure.
Several schools have declared online classes for students up to class 8. Whereas, students of class 9-12 will have their regular physical classes. Schools have taken the decision considering the ‘severe’ air quality in Delhi NCR.
However, there is no official confirmation from the Delhi government regarding schools going online to avoid pollution.
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday said that the Delhi Schools would be closed as and when the AQI levels cross the 450 mark. Gopal Rai further said that the decision to close schools would be taken in accordance with the next level of GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan).

As the AQI exceeded the 450-mark today, Delhi government is expected to make a formal announcement in this regard.
National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has sought a detailed action-taken report on the rising pollution within three days of receipt of the letter written on Wednesday. A copy of the letter addressed to the chief secretary has been sent to LG Vinai Kumar Saxena.
The poor air quality in the national capital and NCR region is affecting children badly and almost eight out of ten children in the hospital are coming up with respiratory problems.
