Deep-tech startup Praan bags funding from Climate Angels, Aera VC, and others

Mumbai: Deep-tech startup Praan has raised an undisclosed sum from global investors Aera VC, angel investment syndication Climate Angels, and Sequoia Scouts in a new round of funding. Cool Climate Collective, film director Roshan Abbas, and angel investor Akshat Rajan also participated in the round.

Climate Angels include angel investors such as Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm), Nipun Sahni (Apollo Global Management), and Paula Mariwala (Seedfund Advisors). Cool Climate Collective includes global angels from Tesla, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and others.

The fresh funds will be used to expand Praan’s India team, expedite manufacturing, and stabilise the supply chain. The latest fundraise is an extension of its $1.56 million round in January.

Founded in 2017 by Angad Daryani, Praan aims to reduce urban air pollution through low-cost, filter-less, and artificial intelligence-based outdoor air purification systems. The startup has begun large-scale pilots across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Its product is manufactured in large parts in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
