Dead by Daylight’s Next Chapter Will Let Nicolas Cage Chew the Scenery

Dead by Daylight has served up its share of charismatic villains over the years, letting players embody the likes of Leatherface, Freddy, and Michael Myers, but it seems Montreal-based developer Behaviour Interactive is going to be unleashing a less fictional (if no less fantastical) scenery-chewing beast in the game’s next chapter – Nicolas Cage. No, not a specific character like Ghost Rider that Nicolas Cage happened to play. Just Nicolas Cage. Or at least that’s what the teaser trailer Behaviour Interactive has released (which you can check out below) seems to be implying.

So… is Nicolas Cage going to be a Survivor? A Killer? Could he be both? My fingers are very much crossed that he’s both. I want earnest National Treasure leading man Nicolas Cage to have to go up against Vampire’s Kiss Nicolas Cage. Or Face/Off Nicolas Cage. Or Bad Lieutenant Nicolas Cage. Honestly, I’m probably getting a little too excited about all this, but hey, we just got a Dead by Daylight teaser trailer with Nicolas Cage breathlessly talking about the power of imagination. That’s objectively exciting.

Behaviour is promising more information on Dead by Daylight: Nicolas Cage on June 5. The new chapter will likely launch soon after that. The current Dead by Daylight chapter, entitled Tools of Torment, launched back in March and features the original “Skull Merchant” Killer, a ruthless corporate psychopath, who tracks her prey with specialized drones.

The Skull Merchant

“A cunning and ruthless hunter, The Skull Merchant strives to be the ultimate apex predator. Using her gruesome Drones to track Survivors, she specializes in creating a deadly web of surveillance. Many have fallen prey to her dark innovations, their bones later repurposed into her next invention.”

  • Eyes in the Sky – The Skull Merchant can position several Drones around the Map. When a Drone is placed, it quickly enters Active Mode and casts a Detection Zone. While inside of this Detection Zone, you will be Undetectable. When a Survivor enters a Detection Zone, the Drone will gradually begin to Lock-On to them. When a Survivor reaches full Lock-On, their location will be revealed through Killer Instinct. They will also become Exposed.

Dead by Daylight can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Switch, and mobile platforms.
