  • There’s no safe haven quite like home…if you can call the destroyed and abandoned West Coast Titans Tower home! Jackson may have eluded the Atlantean guard, but he’s in for the fight of his life with the mysterious villain DELUGE, who framed Jackson for the Atlantis attack and seems hell-bent on his destruction!

Created by Gardner Fox and Mike Sekowsky, the Secret Sanctuary — a cave located deep inside a mountain base — first appeared in 1959’s The Brave and the Bold #28, the issue that also marked the formation of the Justice League of America, as well as the first appearance of Starro the Conqueror. The Secret Sanctuary served as the Justice League’s secret headquarters up until the superhero team was able to establish its first satellite base thanks to the financial backing of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

While the United States government originally planned to decommission the base after the Justice League was reorganized into the Justice League International, the Secret Sanctuary was instead subsequently used as a headquarters by a number of other superhero teams, including the Doom Patrol, Young Justice, the Justice Society of America and, most recently, the Justice Foundation. At one point, the Justice League even returned to the Secret Sanctuary after the original Watchtower — which was located on the moon — was destroyed by Superboy-Prime.

Written by Brandon Thomas and illustrated by Scott Koblish with inks by Wade von Grawbadger and colors by Adriano Lucas, Aquaman: The Becoming #3 goes on sale Nov. 16 from DC Comics.
