David Foster has opened up about his marriage to Katharine McPhee and hit back at critics over their 35-year age gap.
The music producer, 72, married the singer, 37, in 2019, following his divorce from Yolanda Hadid.
They have been growing closer ever since and welcomed their first child together, son Rennie, last year.
In a new chat with People Magazine, the Grammy-winner insisted that the difference in their ages isn’t that important as they ‘have it pretty together’.
‘People always make the reference with Kat and I with the age difference, but I’ve always said there’s so many things that can bring a marriage down, and age difference is just one of them,’ he told the publication.
‘There’s so many things that can go wrong. We think we have it pretty together.
‘Our baby’s 11 months old, so she wants to get back to work full time – and it won’t be with me, probably.
‘I’m really grateful to her that she just goes, “Okay, I’ll grab the baby, I’ll come out, and sing a few songs.” It’s really great – she’s a star.’
Katharine gave birth to Rennie last February, with the tot approaching his first birthday.
The little one is the singer’s first child, while David has five other children – daughters Amy, Erin, Sara, Jordan, and Allison.
The lovebirds first met all the way back in 2006 when Katharine was taking part on American Idol, and became close friends.
They were first linked in May, 2017, following his split from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda, and announced their engagement the following year.
After a year-long engagement, they tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony at the St Yeghiche Armenian Apostolic Church in Kensington in 2019, with around 100 guests thought to be in attendance.
