David Beckham ‘trying to protect’ his kids amid cancel culture fears

David Beckham told a sell-out crowd at St John’s Wood Synagogue in London how he’s trying to protect his kids from making mistakes on social media that they’ll later come to regret.

David shares Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 20, Cruz, 18, and Harper, 12, with Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.

He said: “Hopefully, the mistakes that they do make are not ones that they look back in 10 years and regret.

“Having four children, I’m very aware of the dangers of what’s out there for kids.

“We’re always trying to protect our children as much as possible. On the social media side, there’s only so much you can do, but we try to advise our children every single day,” OK! Magazine reports.

David, 48, has been in the public eye since he started playing for Manchester United at the age of 17. When he started dating Victoria, 49, in 1997 he fast became a paparazzi favourite.

He went on to admit his relief that social media wasn’t around when he was younger, saying: “I was kind of lucky back in the day when that happened to me there wasn’t any social media.

“Unfortunately, we live in a world now where social media and, you know, getting likes is important to kids.”

David added that “all kids make mistakes” and that is the “only way that they can learn”.

The father-of-four recently spoke out about his regret over the choice of hairdo he had when meeting Nelson Mandela.

The former football pro told The Sun: “I got to meet the great Nelson Mandela.

“And the picture that I’ve got of Nelson Mandela is me holding his hand with cornrows in my hair. That’s my only regret.”
