Dave Hughes shares hilarious birthday note from eight-year-old daughter
Comedian Dave Hughes has posted the note his eight-year-old daughter wrote for his birthday, and it’s the funniest thing you’ll read today.
Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes’ eight-year-old daughter may very well follow in her father’s comedic footsteps.
The Australian TV host is celebrating his 51st birthday today, and his family have clearly showered him with love, with the comedian sharing a note on social media written by one of his three children, Tess Hughes.
Young Tess penned a lengthy card for Hughes on his special day, in which she detailed what a terrible year 2021 had been – saved only by her dad’s jokes.
“Dear Dad. So let’s reflect on this year. Actually, let’s not, It’ll make us sad,” she began.
“We all hoped 2021 would be GREAT. When those dreams were crushed everybody lost their spirits … except us, because we had your ‘funny’ jokes.
“Have a jolly good birthday. Tess.”
The wit. The grammar. The perfect cursive. The accurate spelling. It’s almost hard to believe it was written by an eight-year-old.
Hughes himself couldn’t believe it, uploading the photo on Twitter with the caption: “She’s 8.”
The post has racked up hundreds of comments on Facebook and Twitter, with journalist Sam McClure writing, “She’s already a better writer than me.”
Another commented, “Special kid you got there”, with a third adding, “Following in your footsteps.”
Hughes and his wife of 15 years, Holly Hughes, have three children together, including Tess, Raffery, 12, and Sadie, 10.
