Daniel Craig weighs in on Glass Onion character being gay

Glass Onion is the upcoming second film in the Knives Out franchise which Daniel Craig, 54, joined after signing off his 15-year-long stint as James Bond. While the first film left few viewers speculating detective Benoit Blanc’s sexuality, director Rian Johnson, 48, has officially confirmed he is gay.

Daniel Craig stole fans’ hearts as the dashing Kentucky-accented detective Benoit Blanc in 2019, a vastly different character from his notorious MI6 agent.

The original may not have caused as much fanfare in the run up to its release, but audiences across the globe have taken notice of the upcoming sequel.

With a star-studded main cast, including Janelle Monae, 36, Leslie Odom Jr, 41, Dave Bautista, 53, Kate Hudson, 43, Kathryn Hahn, 49, and Edward Norton, 53, to name a few.

The entire main cast, including director Rian, appeared at a press conference for the final day of the London Film Festival 2022.

Daniel doubled down on this viewpoint, exclaiming: “To be honest who wouldn’t want to live with that person!”

Earlier in the conference, Rian explained that his modernisation of the age-old murder mystery genre is just what Agatha Christie, his idol, was doing in her time.

He shared: “All the things we think of as murder mystery tropes are people and society who everybody had an uncle who had been in war.

“Things that we think of as the back of clue cards are people that everyone would have been familiar with.

“If she was writing right now she’d be writing about tech billionaires and these characters. Anyway to me, the notion of making it current is taking it back to the source.”

In 2010, Daniel was spotted at a gay bar in Venice Beach.

However, last year, just after the release of his final James Bond film, No Time To Die, Daniel revealed that his preference for gay bars was more to do with his dislike for violence.

Talking on the podcast Lunch With Bruce, Daniel told host Bruce Bozzi that he often found himself in “punch ups” in usual bars, but in gay bars he felt “everybody was chilled”.
