Daniel Craig full of glee at London Film Festival premiere for Glass Onion
The former 007 frontman – who stars as detective Benoit Blanc in the crime drama – looked dapper in a navy blue tuxedo, and was joined by his co-stars Gwendoline Christie and Kate Hudson.
Actress Gwendoline stunned in a beige gown, while Bride Wars star Kate looked sophisticated in a black and olive green dress.
Tightrope singer Janelle Monae was a vision in red in a sheer puffer gown.
Also in attendance at the premiere was Hollywood icon Grace Jones, who posed on the red carpet in a royal blue tasselled hat.
Closing out this year’s BFI London Film Festival at the Royal Festival Hall, writer and director Rian Johnson and the stellar cast which includes Dave Bautista, Kathryn Hahn, Jessica Henwick, Leslie Odom Jr and Madelyn Cline – gathered at a press conference in London’s Mayfair Hotel to discuss the righteous return of Blanc and a new larger than life mystery.
In the much-anticipated sequel, Blanc (Daniel) is mysteriously invited to a Greek island owned by tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and a number of Miles’ close friends to partake in an extravagant murder mystery party. But of course, before long, the renowned detective’s skills are needed for a genuine murder case.
‘For me, as a murder mystery junkie,’ he said.
‘I’m just so thrilled there’s this new crop. I feel like we caught this nice wave of people rediscovering the genre.
‘I’m thrilled that Netflix has made this deal for the theatrical run in November.
‘I really want people to have the opportunity to see it with a crowd and I’m really grateful Netflix has stepped up.’ he added.
Kate – who plays ex-supermodel Birdy – echoed the sentiment saying that watching the movie with a crowd at the Toronto film festival crowd was a dreamy experience.
Knives Out was a major international hit when it was first released in 2019, and featured the likes of Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ana De Armas.
With Daniel having signed on for the already announced Knives Out 3, the 54-year-old actor revealed he had no qualms about turning the initial film into a successful franchise, following his stint in five movies as iconic British spy, James Bond.
The star told Empire magazine that he’d ‘spent the past 15 years of my life trying to do that in a franchise’.
Director Rian also seemed to confirm that Daniel’s beloved Benoit Blanc was gay during a recent press conference.
The Digital Fix tweeted: ‘‘It looks like @rianjohnson has just confirmed that Benoit Blanc is gay, answering the question with an empathetic [sic] ‘yes’.’
Another attendee echoed the statement and listed the revelation of Blanc being ‘officially queer’ as one of the highlights of the press conference, adding: ‘When I tell you that the whole room went wild.’
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is in UK cinemas from November 23-29 before arriving on Netflix from December 23.
