Dani Ceballos has hit back at Arsenal supporters who joked about Mohamed Elneny’s late cameo in the 3-1 win over West Ham on Boxing Day.

Mikel Arteta’s side went behind in their first game back after the Premier League break but goals in the second half from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah sealed the victory.

Elneny, meanwhile, was brought on for Thomas Partey in the final minute of injury time as Arsenal closed the game out.

One Arsenal fan at the Emirates Stadium captured the entire footage of Elneny’s time on the pitch, which lasted just 22 seconds.

The clip was uploaded to Twitter with the caption, ‘Mohamed Elneny – Incredible Midfield Cameo | Next Pirlo? | 1080p’, while plenty of Arsenal fans saw the funny side in the Egypt international.

But Ceballos took exception to those who mocked Elneny as he wrote on Twitter: ‘Incredible professional, incredible teammate. More players like that in football. A luxury player for Arsenal.’

Meanwhile Arteta said after the game that he has no issue with his Arsenal players thinking about winning the Premier League title.

‘They are allowed to do everything they want,’ said the Arsenal manager.

‘What I tell them is that we have to focus on us, we cannot control what the opponents are going to do, how good they’re going to become, or how many points they’re going to earn or drop.

‘So, we have to focus on our performance, on what we do every day and what has brought us here, which is not a coincidence, so we just need to keep doing what we’re doing.’
