Dancing On Ice: Bez divides viewers over crazy Meat Loaf-themed skate
Dancing On Ice contestant Bez left fans all over the place with his Bat Out Of Hell performance in homage to rocker Meat Loaf who died last month – but not all those watching were impressed.
The Happy Mondays’ star hasn’t failed to provide the entertainment factor throughout the season so far, despite landing at the bottom of the leaderboard each week.
As the competition approached its halfway point, Bez was hoping to win over the judges with his very unique tribute skate on Sunday night.
However, he yet again struggled, and only ended up with 22.5 points from the five panellists this evening.
While many fans still enjoyed the performance, others called for him to go saying it was ‘his time to leave.’
One joked on Twitter: ‘I really want #Bez to stay in #DancingOnIce (and even win it!)….. Mainly due to the fact that it is annoying my wife so much.’
‘As much as I love watching #Bez on #DancingOnIce I think it’s his time to leave,’ someone else said.
Another shared: ‘#dancingonice Bez is an embarrassment and he needs to go. The audience booing the low scores don’t help!’
‘Bez really needs to go! We saw more of the professional than we did of his skating! #DancingOnIce,’ a viewer wrote.
After Oti Mabuse gave him his lowest score of four points tonight, he apologised and said: ‘I’ve been trying my hardest to get a good score off Oti, but I’ve failed again, sorry.
‘I had lots of distractions tonight,’ he added, referring to the numerous props included in the routine.
But Oti had some very honest criticism in response, saying: ‘If we press the other contestants to get better, we should also press you to get better, I would like to see you skate more on your own.
‘I just want to see Bez do a nice clean choreography and then the five [points] is yours.’
Christopher Dean added: ‘I think that was the biggest production we’ve ever had… we’re getting the productions but we’re seeing mostly the same Bez.’
‘Although there were two jumps, you left the ice… intentionally!’
‘For me, there were one too many distractions… you’re not a joke you’re doing really well. Now I just want to see your skating,’ Ashley Banjo noted.
‘I’d like to see more skating, earlier this week we saw you skating nicely… I didn’t see any of that tonight. I was pleased you managed to do the jump, you should be pleased with yourself,’ remarked Jayne Torvill.
Dancing On Ice airs Sundays from 6pm on ITV.
