Dancing on Ice 2022: Stef Reid conquers first headbanger of the series
Dancing on Ice star Stef Reid successfully mastered the first dreaded headbanger of the 2022 series.
During tonight’s show, which involved the seven celebrities incorporating props into their performance, the Paralympian and her professional dance partner Andy Buchanan skated to Madonna’s Material Girl with a clothes rail.
Near the end of the routine, the pair delivered the headbanger – a risky move that involved Andy holding onto Stef’s ankle and spinning around as her head comes into close contact with the floor.
After expressing how badly she wanted to get a nine from judges Oti Mabuse, Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill, and Christopher Dean, she ended up getting four of them with the pair scoring 36 out of 40 – their highest score so far.
Talking about the nail-biting stunt, Stef told hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that she felt ‘proud’ for pulling it off.
‘Stef, I am so so proud of you,’ enthused Oti. ‘Because every single week, you come out here and you get better and you are taking risks.
‘And that was my first headbanger as well and I never know what to expect with you, it was flirty, it was sassy, it was perfect, well done.’
‘I thought it was so creative what you did with the clothes rail,’ said Jayne
‘All new moves that I hadn’t seen before, and you invented a new version of the headbanger. Well done.’
Fans quickly took to Twitter and praised Stef for perfecting the daring yet impressive move.
‘Steph & Andy incredible- headbanger & a clothes rail for the prop
all 9 well deserved. ????????????,’ one person wrote.
While another added: ‘Everytime someone does the headbanger on #dancingonice i get worried!!! But wow! Well done Stef and Andy!!’
Elsewhere Pussycat Dolls singer Kimberly Wyatt landed her first 10 after her beautiful routine to Adele’s Easy On Me.
Dancing On Ice returns next Sunday at 6.30pm on ITV.
