Dan Walker issues apology as his muscly Strictly snap ‘gets stuck’ amid Instagram outage
BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker has been training hard with his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova for Strictly Come Dancing 2021, but fans were not ready for the pre-performance selfie he posted to Instagram. One sports journalist even took to Twitter to complain that the bizarre image had become stuck to the top of her Instagram feed due to the social media platform going down this evening.
The picture in question shows Dan, 44, dressed head to toe in a skintight muscle suit, which he explained was offered to him to wear for his Saturday night performance.
Dan took the picture with a cheeky grin and captioned it: “I’ve been asked if I want to wear a muscle suit for tonight’s dance… I declined”.
He then used the hashtag #YouGetWhatMumGaveMe in defiance of the suggestion from the wardrobe department.
However, one of his 226,000 followers is sports journalist Alison Mitchell, who reposted a screenshot of the Instagram picture to Twitter.

Under the post, BBC Radio One star Chris Stark asked Dan: “Is this actually a thing? I’m shooketh. Who has been wearing the muscle suit!?”
Other viewers praised him for embracing the natural look, instead confidently striding onto the dancefloor as a 6 ft 6, guyliner-wearing, gladiator.
This week, Dan and professional dancer Nadiya, 32, performed a powerful Paso Doble, which earned them an extra two points more than their previous routine.
They danced to Rag ‘n’ Bone Man and Calvin Harris’ hit Giant, which may or may not have been a nod to Dan’s impressive stature.
When critiquing the performance, judge Anton Du Beke said: “I liked it in actual fact, because I liked your energy and your power.”
A score of 26 added to their 24 from the first week, which gave the pair a total of 50 points, landing them in sixth place with 50 points.
Right now, AJ Odudu and Kai Widdirington are storming ahead with an impressive 65 points overall, while John Whaite and Johannes Radebe follow closely behind with 61.
Next week, Strictly promises a night of movie-inspired performances, including songs from The Bodyguard and Disney’s Moana.
