Dan Walker is firmly on the road to recovery following his horrific crash.

The Channel 5 newsreader got a real fright on Monday morning when he was knocked off his bike and rushed into an ambulance.

Dan, 45, has kept his followers updated throughout the week, saying that he felt ‘glad to be alive’ after the ordeal.

Now, the former BBC Breakfast host has assured he’s ‘on the mend’ after a week he certainly couldn’t have prepared for.

Sharing photos of his facial injuries, Dan took to Twitter to show his bruises and scrapes.

The first selfie was taken when Dan was in the ambulance, blood running out of his nose and all over his white shirt.

Dan’s second snap showed a black eye and a very swollen lip, as the third selfie showed the redness had faded slightly but he was still in bad shape.

By the fourth photo, Dan’s purple bruises had gone down a lot, and his busted lip was no longer as swollen.

He was also able to smile a bit more, after a surely traumatic few days!

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant added in his tweet: ‘Not quite the week I had planned but I’m on the mend.

‘I’m very grateful for all your kind messages & for my family & lovely friends. I’m also thankful for the paramedics, the police & the people who looked after me in A & E.’

Despite being far better off than he was at the start of the week, Dan did confess to having trouble with his teeth.

‘Are your teeth alright Dan?’, asked on concerned follower.

‘Getting them checked next week I hope. They ache’, he replied.

Another asked if his injuries still ‘hurt’, to which he said: ‘Yes.’

Dan previously said that he blacked out after being knocked off his bike, and had no memory of the actual accident.

He added that the helmet he was wearing ‘saved his life’, keen to shut down trolls who tried to lecture him.

‘It’s odd to get lectured by people telling me that bike helmets aren’t important when the emergency services at the scene yesterday told me I probably wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t wearing one’, he said earlier this week after returning home.

‘Funny old world!’, he declared.
