Damon Albarn and ‘devastated’ partner Suzi ‘split’ after 25 years

Damon Albarn and artist partner Suzi Winstanley have reportedly split.

The Blur star and his long-term girlfriend, both 55, are said to have gone their separate ways after 25 years together.

The former couple, who never married, have been together since 1998 and share 23-year-old daughter Missy.

Friends are said to have told The Mail On Sunday that Suzi is “absolutely devastated”.

“Suzi is heartbroken at their relationship ending,” a source told the publication.

The insider continued: “Even though they have been living in the showbiz bubble where so many couples struggle, they had been together for a very long time.

“It is a really sad time for everyone involved.”

The newspaper alleges that Suzi asked Damon to leave their London home, “although the circumstances behind her decision are unknown”.

Express.co.uk has contacted a spokesperson for Damon Albarn for comment.

Despite their supposed difficulties, the former was said to be in attendance to watch Blur at London’s Hyde Park earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Damon is believed to have spent a lot of time in Devon during lockdown, where he also owns a property.

He hinted at difficulties behind the scenes in a recent interview with French magazine, Paris Match.

The hitmaker told them: “The last few months, the last year has not been easy.

“But the music allows me to ‘bring out’ all that. That is to say, it’s the only way I know to overcome this sort of event. And it’s cheaper than therapy.”

The publication went on to claim a song on Blur’s new album, The Ballad Of Darren, which was released last week, features a song “about his relationship with Suzi”.

Lyrics in The Ballad include: “I just looked into my life, and all I saw was that you’re not coming back.”

The pair began dating following Damon’s split from Elastica singer Justine Frischmann, 53.

She went on to be with the lead singer in another Britpop band, Suede: Brett Anderson.
