The retention of a play-off place following a break due to the frozen conditions sees the Daggers going into this weekend knowing a win consolidates a place in the top seven.
With the weekend trip to Maidenhead postponed, play-off rivals Bromley were the opponents on Tuesday, with the Ravens seeking victory to close the gap on the Daggers.
However, that gap wasn’t closed and though Daryl McMahon’s men couldn’t widen that gap it was ultimately a good point on the road.
A fairly even encounter, which saw the Daggers go ahead relatively early on, ended with Bromley on top and they could easily have nicked it at the end.
So, despite a late equaliser, the away support appeared content at the end of the game knowing that they could easily have been travelling back empty-handed.
There was a failure on Dagenham’s part to just find that second goal and that is the only real source of frustration from Tuesday night.
Now it’s all eyes on Victoria Road and the Daggers Celebrate Diversity Day game where Yeovil are the visitors today.
McMahon’s men are firm favourites and you feel it is a must-win game to ensure that the point last time out is built upon to round off what will be a good week.
It’s these games last season where the Daggers faltered and the play-off pursuit unravelled – a point making all the difference last season.
So it’s an important game today in the wider context of the season, a home game against a 19th-placed side, with the Daggers looking to consolidate their play-off place.
In order to secure this victory Dagenham will have to be more clinical in front of goal than in recent weeks – posing a greater attacking threat. Hopefully the likes of Junior Morias can rediscover their form and get on the scoresheet today.
At the other end is Yeovil’s new addition Jordan Maguire-Drew from Grimsby, a player who, on his day, can cause difficulties for the Daggers back line.
However that back line has impressed in recent league games, with Tuesday a good example bar the concession of the equaliser – Harry Phipps in particular dominated at the back.
The Daggers sit in seventh, a point separating them and rivals Southend, so it is vital to gain some breathing space that they can get a result today.
It’s perhaps an unrealistic expectation that this can remain the case consistently until the end of the season, given the nature of this league and since there is still a way to go.
However winning these games, where they are firm favourites, bolsters the chances of Daggers finishing the season on the right side of that dotted line.
Hopefully Daggers rise to the occasion today in front of a bumper crowd and round off a good week in the play-off pursuit.
