Dagenham & Redbridge defeated as Ince doubles up for Woking
Dagenham & Redbridge suffered defeat at the hands of play-off rivals Woking at Victoria Road.
Rohan Ince netted a first-half brace for the visitors and Josh Walker’s reply proved only a consolation for Daryl McMahon’s men.
Elliot Justham had to produce a superb double save on 11 minutes to deny the visitors an opening goal, with Woking having penalty claims waved away midway through the first half.
But the Cardinals took the lead on 26 minutes as Ince struck, before Craig Ross denied Mo Sagaf from the home side’s first notable opportunity at the other end.
And Ince doubled Woking’s advantage on 37 minutes to leave Daggers with a mountain to climb in the second half.
McMahon made a double change at the break, sending Harry Phipps and Paul McCallum on for Joel Taylor and Junior Morias respectively and changing the shape of his side as a result.
But Daggers needed Justham to produce an outstanding save to deny Padraig Amond a third goal just past the hour mark, with Walker picking up a yellow card moments later.
The home side halved the deficit midway through the half, though, as Myles Weston did well on the right and crossed to the near post for Walker to poke past Craig Ross.
And McMahon sent George Saunders on for Sagaf in the aftermath of the goal as the Daggers boss sensed a chance for his side to get themselves back in the game.
Captain Matt Robinson was booked as the hosts pushed for an equaliser, with five minutes of stoppage time signalled, but the scoreline remained unchanged and Daggers will look to bounce back at Aldershot on Tuesday.
