Dad of vile rapist moans about his son’s conviction in Facebook rant
The dad of a convicted rapist took to Facebook to launch into a rant after his son was found guilty.
Charles Goodwin, a mixed martial arts fighter who described himself as a ‘sex god’, was today convicted of four counts of rape by a jury.
The 21-year-old was convicted of raping two students and sexually assaulting another in court today.
The business management student was told by a judge to expect “a lengthy period of imprisonment”.

He was found guilty of three charges of raping one student in Manchester and of assaulting her by penetration. He was also found guilty of one charge of raping a student in Liverpool.
The jury also convicted him of two offences of sexually assaulting a third student in Liverpool, but cleared him of a sexual assault on a fourth student, also in Liverpool.
Goodwin, of Hilbre Street, Liverpool city centre but formerly of Salford, did not react when the jury returned their unanimous verdicts after just over six hours deliberations.
But in the hours after the conviction, Goodwin’s dad, also named Charles Goodwin, took to Facebook to rant about the case, the Liverpool Echo reports.
After the jury announced they had reached a verdict, Mr Goodwin Snr said: “‘They have reached a verdict’ don’t think I’ve ever been more nervous in my life. My son’s future about to be decreed by 12 strangers.”
He later posted to call the jury’s verdict “despicable”.
He said: “Despicable. Found guilty of 9 of 12 charges. Ignore all the evidence […] convicted him because a girl turned up to court […] and cried about trauma. Unbelievable.
“An absolute stitch up. Shame on them all.”
He continued: “I will advocate for the truth. It was on full display in the trial but the jury […] were not interested […].
“The justice system is a sham designed to beat defendants into submission instead of analysing the evidence.”
Mr Goodwin Snr posted many times describing his rapist son as “a lovely lad” and in one update, saying: “He’s gonna be sentenced to between 16-25 years.”
In the courtroom, he had shouted out after the jury’s decision.
“Shame on this court, disgusting,” his dad said.
His grandad shouted: “A young man’s life has been totally scotched and ruined.
“How can you believe someone’s lies to the court? It is really no way to deal with these offences.”
But the court had previously heard details of Goodwin Jnr’s vile crimes.
During his evidence he described himself as a combination of “a hopeless romantic and Charlie big b******….it is the way my personality worked.”
Liverpool Crown Court was previously told how he raped his first victim in Manchester three times – after saying she needed ‘to be treated like a princess’ and picking her up and carrying her.
He was convicted of three charges of rape in relation to that victim, as well as a charge of assault by penetration.
And Judge Garrett Byrne told Goodwin, of Hilbre Street, Liverpool: “I am going to order a pre-sentence report to be prepared by probation to include the extent to which you present a danger to women and the outcome of that may affect sentence.
“Please prepare yourself for a lengthy period of imprisonment.”
He further remanded him in custody to await sentence next month.
