Cyberpunk 2077 quest director reaffirms they’re still working on more for the game
The Cyberpunk team is still working on an expansion
Cyberpunk 2077 has been enjoying a resurgence, thanks to its next-gen update and Patch 1.5. As a clip from quest director Paweł Sasko going around shows, though, the team is still hard at work on more for CD Projekt Red’s open-world adventure.
The clip in question popped up on Reddit, clipped out from one of Sasko’s streams dated March 6—not too much longer after Patch 1.5 went live on Feb. 15. A stream viewer asked about potential future content for Cyberpunk 2077, and while Sasko couldn’t go into details, he did ensure the team is working on it.
“I can assure you that we are working on expansion, we’re working [on] stuff for you guys besides that,” said Sasko. “That didn’t change. We are still improving the game, because we are all aware there is work to be done.”
The response to Patch 1.5 sounds like it has boosted the team a bit, though. Sasko says he is reviewing quests and talking to people, and confirms that “what we said we are doing, we are doing.”
Cyberized future
An expansion has been in the cards for Cyberpunk 2077 for some time, though it’s been moved around as the team adjusted its development timeline. The next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077, meanwhile, surprise-dropped in February alongside a special stream.
The nice part was, Patch 1.5 didn’t just bring Cyberpunk 2077 officially onto PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It also expanded the game out a bit, refining some systems like traffic and civilians. It also added components like buying apartments and deeper romance tie-ins. I’ve heard from a few people who have gone back to Night City after the patch who have been pleasantly surprised.
CD Projekt Red recently confirmed that the next game in The Witcher saga will be headed to Unreal 5. In the same announcement, the studio also confirmed that the expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 will still use the REDengine. Even if it’s just a few tidbits, it looks like CD Projekt Red is staying committed to seeing things through on Cyberpunk 2077. Since this clip aired, the team has already published a few more patches, continuing to tweak and tune the open-world adventure. The work’s not yet done on Night City.
