“Cyberpunk 2077” QA Partner Quantic Lab Responds To Allegations They Misled CDPR

Quantic Labs CEO Stefan Seicarescu has issued a statement to VGC regarding the allegations that a company whistleblower leaked confidential documents outlining the company’s time QA testing Cyberpunk 2077.

The YouTube channel Upper Echelon Gamers alleged that they had been sent a 72-page document which outlined the rocky time Quantic Labs underwent while QA testing for CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077. In the video, they allege that Quantic Labs misled CD Projekt Red on the size and experience of their testing team and the result was that CDPR received a large number of frivolous bug reports as a result.

In Seicarescu’s statement, he said the aforementioned video misunderstands the QA and game development processes:

“The video published on social media as mentioned in your article starts with incorrect statements about Quantic Lab’s history. There seems to be a lack of understanding in the process of how a game is tested before its release to the market”

He then went on to speak about how multiple companies contribute to the QA process and no one company is solely responsible for the final build:

“All our customer agreements are confidential but in general, global publishers are working with several QA outsourcing companies, not depending solely on one, in addition to internal QA resources at developer level in most cases. Each project we undertake is unique with regard project requirements. Project direction is agreed and adjusted accordingly as per real time requirements with our colleagues.”

Seicarescu’s statement doesn’t explicitly deny the contents of the alleged whistleblower’s document, rather it points out some inaccuracies and goes on to say that multiple outsourcing companies are responsible for QA. This would mean the blame for Cyberpunk 2077’s less-than-perfect launch state doesn’t lie solely with Quantic Lab.

As was the case when our previous article was published, CD Projekt Red has only stated that they do not comment on rumours.
