Cubs’ Cody Bellinger engaged to SI Swimsuit model Chase Carter

Cubs slugger Cody Bellinger and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Chase Carter will be tying the knot.

Carter announced Thursday morning on Instagram that Bellinger popped the question, indicating the proposal came with the Chicago skyline in the backdrop.

While it is likely that Bellinger would have hoped the air not be sullied by smoke from Canadian wildfires, it nevertheless appears that both sides looked jubilant with the news.

The couple has been dating for several years and welcomed a baby girl, Caiden Carter Bellinger, in late 2021.

Bellinger, the 2017 NL Rookie of the Year and 2019 NL MVP, is in his first season with the Cubs after spending six years with the Dodgers.

He is on a one-year contract worth $17.5 million and could find himself on the market as the MLB trade deadline approaches.

He is batting .260 with seven home runs, 22 RBIs and a .774 OPS so far this season.

Much like Bellinger, Carter is an athlete in her own right.

She spoke to Page Six in 2018 about preparing for the New York City marathon.

“If you have a swim shoot coming up, you obviously go down on the sugar, the carbs, whatever it might be. With the marathon, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten so much in my life,” Carter said at the time.

“Since I’ve been running so much, I don’t really think about what I’m eating. Obviously, I’m not eating bad food, but the amount of food has definitely increased.”

She also talked about how her career as a model has kept her in athletic shape.

“I’ve always tried to stay athletic throughout my modeling career, and since I was traveling at a young age and still in school, I had to keep up,” she said.

“Let’s say I was going back home [to the Bahamas] to play in a soccer game, but missed practices, I would have to go to the gym, run or do weights.”
