Cruise warning of common banned item that’s ‘viewed’ as a ‘hazard’
Cruise passengers generally have more freedom than on flights as they won’t be subject to liquid restrictions.
However, there are still a few items that cruise guests won’t be allowed to bring onto the ship.
If a guest does bring a banned item, it will be confiscated. Guests may get the item back at the end of their trip but this isn’t guaranteed.
Cruise guests will usually have to go through airport style security when they board the ship and bags will be checked.
The crew will deliver guests’ main luggage to their cabins in the afternoon of the first day on the cruise.

Irons and steamers
James Cole, founder and managing director of Panache Cruises, said: “Items which generate heat are prohibited from cruises as they are viewed as potential fire hazards.
“Anyone wanting to iron their clothes once onboards should check to see if their ship provides a public laundry room which includes irons and boards for passengers.”
Guests can also use the ship’s laundry service and dry cleaning although this may incur a hefty additional charge.
Pets
As tempting as it might be to bring a furry friend onboard a cruise, pets are banned on nearly all cruise lines.
This is because it could be dangerous to have an animal on the ship and it might irritate other passengers.
However, service animals are an exception to this rule and guests should contact their cruise lines for the guidelines.
Bottle warmers and sterilisers
Some cruise lines will allow passengers to bring travel size sterilisers but they are banned on some companies.
Guests should also check age limits before booking a cruise as some ships won’t allow very young babies onboard.
Passengers can also check the childcare facilities as some ships don’t have a creche service for babies.
