Cruise guest shares tip to avoid ‘feeling claustrophobic’ in an interior cabin

Cruise ships usually have a huge range of rooms for guests to choose from. The cheapest option is an interior cabin.

Interior cabins are located in the centre of the ship and don’t have a window or balcony for guests to use.

While the cheap cabins are a great way to save money, they can leave some passengers feeling claustrophobic.

However, according to some regular cruise holidaymakers, there are a few tips passengers can take to make their experience more comfortable.

Reddit user ‘GoatEatingTroll’ said they always bring LED candles when they’re staying in an interior cabin.

They said: “The ones we picked up at IKEA automatically turn themselves on and off every 12 hours.

“We put one on the desk and one in the bathroom when we first board, turn them on around seven or so that night, and they automatically give a gentle glow.”

LED candles could help to keep the room cheerful and help passengers see their way around at night.

While battery operated candles are allowed on cruises, guests aren’t allowed to bring actual candles due to the fire risk.

The cruise guest added: “[Bring] a rechargeable fan. The air movement will help with that closed-in feeling.

“The white noise will help [you] relax and having it be rechargeable means you are not taking up a plug all night when you want to be charging your phone.”

Cruise guests could also put the TV on. Cruise ships usually have a setting which shows a recording of the outside of the ship.

This could help guests to relax and alleviate the need for a window. Guests can also leave their cabin to get fresh air on one of the public decks.

If it’s a busy cruise with plenty of activities and entertainment guests may not need to spend much time in their cabin.
